My '98 3.2TL has a dashboard rattling/tapping noise that's absolutely driving me nuts! After trying to fix the problem on my own, I finally gave up in frustration and took it to the dealer. $250 later, the rattling noise is still as prevelent as ever. Initially, I thought the plastic woodgrain trim was vibrating or rattling. However, now I believe that the noise is coming from the upper dash, near the center vents. It is especially bad when I turn the wheel to the left. Any suggestions or ideas from anyone who has had similar problems would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

sorry man thats hard cause our cars have lots of rattle.. i know i have one that sounds like its coming from the passenger airbag whenever i hit a bump... did u try taking off the vent to see if there was anything in there??? check underneath the hood.. uhm check the steering column cause u said it happens when u turn... i would also check outside under the car.. cv boot i dunno.. i bet it is something dumb like ur change holder or something.. that happened in my friends camaro...
