Exclamation Damn Bad Luck Again!

Alright, so I bought my TL about 3 months ago. It's a 98 3.2 w/108,000 miles on it. Now I was lucky and found this TL when it was posted on Autotrader by mistake for $4,500...Out the door I got it for $5,900, a steal considering the insurance company values it at $10,100. Unfortunately however, the place I bought it from told me since I was getting such a good deal they would not replace the worn ass front tires. No problem I figured and went to Pep Boys and got a cheap set of Futuras. I also purchased a 4-wheel allignment and left the rear BFG's on becuase they were in perfect condition.

That was about a month ago.... Yesterday on the highway, both my rear tires blew out! Come to find out, those idiots who did the allignment screwed up the camber angle for the rear tires and caused the tires to wear all the way down to the radial on the very inside. Now it would seem I would be stupid for not checking my tires, but all this wear took place on a 500+ mile road trip. Heard a pop and one tire went, then the weight change and stress caused the other one to blow when I was pulling over... Thank god I have AAA... Anywho, I called Pep Boys and they are going to replace all 4 tires with their best brand of tire and re-allign the front and rear end, they also said they would extend the warranty on the allignment and tires to the lifetime I own the car! SWEET free tires and allignment for life!

I'm happy about this, and pleased with the compensation Pep Boys provided for me, yet more than that I am happy that I was able to get off the road safely in rush hour traffic in the ATL, I had to cross 6 lanes to get to the emergency lane!

Just thought I would share my story... Oh BTW Weapon R Secret Weapon will be here on Monday...Cant wait to install-will post pics and a sound clip...hehehe

Doesn't sound like bad luck to me. Shoot, I don't mind free tires and alignments for life. They are too damn expensive. I just paid $50 for an alignment.

After they do that, I would bring it to another shop, and have them check things out.

I had a bent rim that Pep Boys couldn't figure out after 3-5 times being there, replacing rims, rotating tires, balancing, it was a mess with them. After about $1000 worth of work, they told me the frame was probably bent. All because they couldn't figure out the bent rim. Luckily, I went to another shop who told me this.

Thanks for the advice, I hope it's nothing that serious! I will take it to goodyear and see what they have to say. Thanks

...

what did you expect from pepboys?

Bad camber and horrible toe is the main cause for tires to be eaten up.
