Question Custom Intake

Over my winter break my buddy and I are gonna make a custom cold air intake for my 2.5 TL. Has anyone made a custom cold air intake for their 2.5's? I need to know what diameter piping to get and approximately how much room I will have once I take out the stock airbox. I plan on getting a breather filter, bypass valve, and a good K&N air filter. My main concern right now is the piping diameter so I can get the air filter and bypass valve online now so I will have it once my break comes. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

***EDIT*** I did a search after I posted this but anyway. I am gonna keep the o2 sensor and attach a pipe to that, with the breather attached to it...then I am gonna attach the bypass valve to the other end, then a long piece after that down to the bottom of the car behind the bumper. I think that 3" piping is what I need, but I just want to make sure so that I don't fawk it up. Thanks.

I just bought a cold air intake for the 1998 accord...the piping looks like it'll fit perfectly, but it make need a little trimming. It was $44 total inc. shipping so that isn't that bad. I just need to buy the bypass and breather.

you can build one using 3" piping... you'll need like 2 silicone adapters... 2.5"=>3" and i think a 3"=>3"... been a while since me and my friends built my intake

Ok, i got the tubing and everything. I did some rough measurements and I am gonna have to cut the pipe a couple of times. Here is the link to see what I am gonna have to do... http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...91&uid=1679529

Does anyone know if there is a certain distance the breather filter can be from the o2 sensor and if there is a certain distance the air bypass valve has to be from the o2 sensor and/or intake filter?? Thanks.

I could very well be wrong, but i hope this helps:

I've seen pictures of other's with cutom intakes on this site, and to what I've seen, their bypass valve is located along the longer part of the tube(center i think)

Regarding the distance from the o2 sensor..... not sure.

Anyway's, good luck with the installation, hope to see pics in the near future.

The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe on the same axis as the throttle body centerline

Well that's the thing. I think that I am gonna connect the tube to one of the nipples and a breather filter to the other. Relatively, I know what I am doing but it's these "little" things that I am not sure of...and i'm sure these "little" things aren't so little in the end.

Yeah, i've been using that picture as reference. See how there is a breather filter attached to the pipe(prolly a nipple)? Can/does the breather be on the engine side of the o2 sensor?
