Hey everyone: i've been reading the posts on this site for about a year now and i have finally joined. I really enjoy checking out everyone's rides and glad to be a part of the group now. I have two main questions:

1. My front left (driver's side) bumper light went out and i want to replace it. What size bulb do i need and how the heck do i get in there to replace it??

2. Recently, my temperature gauge has really been acting up. It has always stayed right under the half-way mark even in hot weather (desert driving with A/C on, city stop-and-go driving, etc.) and heavy usage. Now, it is going wildly up and down--close to the red mark and then back down to the mid-area. I stopped once when it went really red, and opened the hood up and touched the engine--it was not hot at all. The fan was going (left-hand fan when looking at the engine), which seems to only go on when it is really hot. I am afraid that the engine might be burning up and i don't know it. I recently had the coolant drained and replaced, got a new radiator cap, and a new air filter. What could be the problem? i have a lot of driving to do in the future weeks and would hate to have any problems from this otherwise great car...i love my TL.

1. Your bumper bulb is 168.

2. I suggest you have your car check out by the dealer. You don't want your car to be overheated. It could be the thermostat or the water bump.

 

If you look at the corner bumper light you'll see one philips screw. Take that screw out and the whole lens will come out. To remove the bulb socket from the lens just twist it.

As for the temp gauge problem, I would do what MaxxT said and go to the dealer. You dont want your car to overheat.

 

Thanks guys!! i appreciate it. I already had the water pump replaced--the dreaded expensive tune up that shows up around 75K miles. They replaced everything that always goes wrong with the acura so i sort of tried to pre-empt it.

i got the bulbs and gonna work on those tomorrow.

the gauge was doing it again today: the funny thing is that when my temp. is set at 60 degrees, the gauge stays right where it always does--right under the midway point. but wheni put the temp to 90 degrees, it takes the car almost five minutes to warm to that temperature (never done that before) and then the gauge goes wild again...anyway, thanks again, and i will give the dealer a buzz on monday. hope they aint going to rape me again like they did earlier...
