I might be slightly interested but can you explain exactly what the advantages of coilovers are compared to springs? Oh and are they illegal or what? Thanx much!

when you get lowering springs, you can only lower it a certain height. with coilovers, you can adjust the height of your car anywhere from stock to 3 inches. It basically gives you more options on height. This is beneficial in the fact that if you get rims, you might have to raise the car for the wheels not to rub. i'm actually thinking about coilovers, maybe i'll sell my eibachs.

How do I adjust the drop? Would I have to take it in everytime I want to adjust them? What brands make coilovers for our First Gens besides the ones on Groupbuy.com? Thanx much!

to adjust the height, you can do it yourself. all you do is stick your hand up above your tires, reach into your springs, and adjust the height with a hook or tool that the coilover set provides. if you drop it super low (they go as low as 3" or 4") then you can use your jack (the one you use for a flat) jack up your car to reach the spring because if its too low, you cant reach your springs right? so you have to jack it up..to lift the body of the car where your shocks are visible, and then you can adjust it again to raise the height. am i making any sense? if you don't tighten it enough, as you drive...your car will lower itself LOL not too safe unless we tuck in our rims.. can we say HYDRO?! lol i need me some hydros!! (hydros is another suspension device that REALLY slams your car!! im talking about SLAMMMMMMMMMM that is another device that cost about 1000 bucks to like 1700!)

there are 2 brands that make coilover for our cars so far. GROUND CONTROL, which is on that group buy site for 308 bucks and there is SKUNK 2 which is a little cheaper... like 270-something. i emailed that one guy with the yellow TL and he said that if i was to buy coilovers, he suggest Ground Control because it rides smooth. He said SKUNK 2 is too bouncy. I would prefer the Ground Control. there is a guy here on the 1st gen who has ground control coilovers. i think its "request" he had to purchase camber kits as well. camber kits help in the height adjustment and you'll need it so your tires wont wear out as fast.
