I always see these things on Ebay...for like 30 bucks you get a chip to install that is supposed to gain up to 20 HP or whatever...has anyone ever installed one of these and if so, did it work at all? I dont see how this could work...at least for so cheap

They are all pieces of crap. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. All those things are is a resistor that you can get at radio chack..

thats what I figured...how could it possibly increase HP though, does it just adjust your air/fuel ratio so basically you use more gas?

There is the Bayou chip for the Legend. However, it takes some work to get it compatible with the 3.2 TL's. Different emission standards too.

I've heard those chips fool the computer to make it run rich all the time, so in return, you get more power. But the downside of this is premature engine damage and lower fuel economy.

yep, thats exactly what I've heard as well, it just basically makes your engine think the throttle is down more than it is at all times...which is not cool

That's just about exactly what it does. Look at any type of car forum on the web and you will pretty much see the same thing DON'T USE THESE MODS!! The BEST way to change the fuel curve for a car with mods is to have your ECU re-programmed with either a custom programmer or by replacing it with an aftermarket one.
