Car will not turn over! Lights, ect Work fine. Searched. Need help!
My wifes car has been running fine and today after work she called me and said it would not start. She has a 98 2.5TL with 120K on it or so. All the major routine maintenance and other items has been done. She said her headlights, radio, ect still work, however when she goes to start the car nothing happens. No clicking, no cranking, nothing. I did a search and did not find a for sure answer. Is this a common problem other board members have gone through? Any help would be great.
I need to get the car moving before a predatory tow truck driver gets to it.

There is a black cable connecting to the starter. Grab it and make sure the connection is tight. You may want to jiggle the cable around. And then try starting it. Could be just loose connection. That's what happened to me at least. Good luck.

I'm currently experiencing a similar problem. My 96 TL usually always starts up right away, but after I've driven it around for awhile and made at least 3 restarts with the last start being while the engine is still close to normal operating temperature, I get nothing. Everything electrical in the car works fine but the car doesn't make a sound when I try to turn it over. I found that after about 30-40 minutes of cool down the car starts right up without a problem. I already had the battery checked, and replaced the starter but haven't solved the problem. Anyone else heard of such a thing?

I had a similar issue about a year ago. My car wouldn't do anything with a turn of the key. After 2, 3...6 trys (the problem worsened with time) it would finally start as if nothing were wrong. I took my car in and had the starter CONTACTS resurfaced and the the starter "rebuilt", whatever that means. That fixed the problem and haven't had an issue since. Cost me about $300.00 Good luck!

Thanks for the help everyone, this is a very helpful community.
After much search I think I need to replace the starter solenoid contacts. Does anyone have the part # for these? Can I pick them up at a stealership, or is there a better (cheaper) place that can get them to me ASAP? Thanks.

Regarding the starter solenoid contacts- I called Sherco Auto Supply which I found through a post on this site and they told me I need to know what size contact to get. They stated it should either be a 8mm or 10mm hole. Has anyone ordered this part and can tell me which one to get? Again this is for a 98 2.5L TL. Thanks.
