Unhappy car sqeeks/squeels

Is this something common? My car sqeeks as i step on the gas. It makes my car sound all old and ghetto. im thinking its the cv joint b/c a mechanic told me that i need a new cv boot awhile back but i held out for awhile and now its squeeking (front driver side). Last i looked under there, oil was spitting out beneath the car but not from the oil pan...just from the shocks area. any ideas? How much will this cost me to fix?

If the CV boot is ripped and you don't replace it immediately you've pretty much kissed the joint goodbye.

Squeeking would be more likely a bearing. CV-JOINT DOES need boot replaced ASAP if boot broken. If you hear clunking when turning that is cv-joint.

Well if you could do it yourself it would be under $200 but the labor will push it up maybe closer to $500 for the joint replacement. Of course you never said if the boot was torn or just leaking. If there just grease leaking from the joint then the clamp probably needs replaced. The clamp was missing on mine and it was a $10 fix and no more grease coming out. It also might not even be your CV joint at all making the noise.

DIY for $200??? I paid for both my front CV Boots $40 tops... The labor is what kills though... if you get it done at a shop its only around $100 bucks...

<~~~ changed his when got my rims...
<~~~ crashed about a month later with said rims...

I remember posting this pic before...

they told me that if i had gone any longer that my bearing in the joint would freeze up and my rim would of ended somewhere in another lane while my car it the center divider and/or crashed into head on traffic... just a thought the mechanic put in my head and now its in yours... you can ignore it if you want... but i decided to change them A.S.A.P...

I saw them do it and what they did is took my stock rims off... took the joint apart... re-packed the bearing with new grease... and put on the new boot and my new rims right behind that... didn't last long... about 1hour to 1hr.30min... Local privatly owned rim shop did it... they did suspension work too so i guess they knew what they were doing...

check your belts too-that will cause your engine to squeal under initial acceleration

i paid 88 bucks for each of my cv joint. I replaced both. be sure to make sure that you have a ripped cv boot, like the one in the pic, before replacing. some places will show you the one thats ripped and tell you that both sides need replacement. so make sure to ask them to see both of your boots to make sure its ripped. they'll charge you if you're not careful.
