Broken Door Handles

Is the broken door handle common in the 1st. gen. TL's??? Almost every other one i've seen has the broken popped out handle... it still works, it is just missing a spring or something...

Has anybody had them repaired? How Much? DIY, How???

As far as i know they cant be repaired, they have to be replaced. Some stupid spring pops out and thats all she wrote. It happened to me yesterday. I was so pissed. They are expensive too. If anyone does know how to repair them please let us know.

Anything can be repaired..

Provided you have the proper ghetto fabrication skills and jb weld

Take a pic of the door handle so I can see what you're talking about.

I think he means that the handle no longer springs back into place it kinda jus floats now. happened to both my front doors. I tried to fix it myself but that didn't work out so well.

Had the Dealer do it, it is not so easy to do it. Did it on both Handles, Driver and Passenger. Cost a lot. Handle itself is ~ $120.00. Labor is 2 hours, ~ $150.00.

Sucks, but such is the 1st gen TL. One of the weakest links.......

No, they said the handle mechanism (means area where a linkage is attached) broke and they had to replace the handle.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my first Integra. Same thing...never fixed it just traded it in for my second one like that.

I had one fixed at my local shop and cost $200 which I thought was high.
Today another broke and I am surfing this site trying to find out how to fix it myself. How did you fix yours?
