Brake Caliper Decal

Here's a source for obtaining an Acura Logo decal for your painted brake caliper:

I'm thinking of getting a set of these for my '97 3.2. Anyone here care to add your $.02 on what color combination I ought to do? The car is green and has silver CL-S wheels. I'm leaning towards silver caliper paint with either white or black lettering but I can be persuaded otherwise...

A buddy of mine showed me his painted caliper, which he did about two years ago and it looked terrible. The rust had just eaten away at the caliper paint like it was nothing. With that in mind I'm probably going to wnat to paint my calipers with something more bomb proof than ordinary caliper paint. I'm thinking of the High-Heat Por-15, which is known for its rust-proofing qualities. Only downside is the color selection: manifold grey, black, and aluminum. That's it. Maybe I'll just do the manifold grey with white decals and call it a day.

that high heat paint would help but in order to keep the rust away longer, you need to sand the crap out of the calipers. it does take a long time to do it but once all the dust is gone and the caliper is smooth, the paint will last. i've had my paint on there for over a year and no rust or anything wrong with them. i sanded them down for what seemed like forever and then put 5 coats of paint on each one and it's perfect. you just need to clean them every couple weeks b/c the brake dust gets on them and makes them dirty.

Thanks for the tip, however being as my car is a relatively high milage vehicle I'm going through and replacing the calipers altogether with remanufactured ones from Rockauto.com along wih new rotors (Brembo blanks) and OEM hoses and ceramic pads (Akebono). My buddy insists that red calipers would look great on my green car but I'm not too sure. I still am leaning towards using the Por 15 manifold high heat rust inhibitor paint and applying just the 'A' protion of the Acura decal (black). This will offer a nice contrast to the silver painted wheels and the black logo will match the 'A' center cap logo on the wheels. The added benefit of the pint of Por 15 is that once I'm done I can clean and apply it to the rear muffler, which right now looks grimey.
