Give it a couple weeks, run it while you are driving, and then before you get to your destination, turn it off ( a couple minutse before you get there) and that might help it, worked for me.

turn your heater on full blast while you're driving.. keep it on for about 3-5 min. the smell is prob due to fungus and the hot air will eliminate it. give that a shot.

There are commerical cleaning kits for cleaning and sanitizing the evaporator. Check ackits.com for some examples. There are sprays you can spray into the vents to treat the bugs also, but are less effective than cleaning. It can be difficult to get rid of the smell in some cases.

good luck

good luck.
both very good advice here...

before and after summer i usually try to blast some Lysol into the vents at the base of the windshield while i have my a/c blowing on high.. this helps to try and kill any mold or bacteria that has caught onto the evap as texas has stated...

baller's recommendation is good if you are driving along and just get that funky smell... it works pretty quickly when i tried it... just turn the temp all the way to heat and when u feel hot air, just turn it to cold and the a/c should not smell anymore...

keep us updated

http://www.ackits.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dwd2

here is link to what you need from the website posted by Texas... any idea how to access the evap Texas???

Bad Smell

This happens in some cars. It's due to a crack in a condensor or some other A/C component. It is fungus in the system. Just noticed it on mine, hope its not too hard to fix!! No $$$

FYI This was actually addressed on Car-talk
