amp mounts
amp mounts
sorry to throw several ?'s at you guys about this system thing, but i'm lookin to do it right. i would like to mount these amps not on the box, but around it. i don't have any other wood pieces to install them on to, and i'd rather not drill in the molding in the trunk. anyone have any ideas? these are RF amps, a bit older (500a2 and 200a4). they have screw 'holes' for mounting, but they are really like 3/4 circles. well any ideas are very welcome.

That's good you aren't mounting your amp on the box... I found that i go through more amps when mounted to the box then if i put them somewhere else... I have mine a couple inches away and behind my box... basicly where if you open the little door in the back seat to the trunk... its mounted to that tire cover made of some cardboard... I still need to install a restraint to stiffen the tire cover...
About the cap... make sure you install the cap as close as possible to the amp... a couple of feet away is still cool... but the closer the better...
Also, I understand why you are posting this here in the 1st Gen forum (no one understand the 1st gen better then the 1st gen subforum...) but you might get more help in the Audio, bluethooth, etc... subforum...

and i used to have an 'amp' rack. basically it was on the back of my box. it was the same wood as the box, but it was fastened to the back and stuck out the depth of the amp and cap. then a cover made of the same wood (3/4 inch thick) with cutouts for the amp and cap was made. here is a pic that i found...but i'm not sure if this is what you mean:
