Alternator belt keeps squeaking?!
I just replaced all three of my serpentine belts and so far so good. But this morning when i went to start up my car the alt belt was squeaking. It lasts maybe 2-3 mins while idling then it is completely gone the rest of the day.
I know i tightened the belt correctly, but i went ahead and tightened it a lil more. I have the belt pretty tight and im worried i may go too tight and hurt the bearings of the alt.
BTW, i checked the alt bearing pulley and it spins freely with no squeaking. So im pretty sure its the belt, caues it never squeaked until i changed this belt.
Just want to know how tight do you guys tighten these belts on your 2.5TL?
Thanks

ok thanks. Ya ive got mine pretty tight as well, the sound on cold startup seems to be quieter now and doesnt last as long.
So im going to wait it out a few more days, since it only does it at cold start up. Maybe the new belt needs to wear in better.
But I dont think I wanna go any tighter then what i have.
