Almost lost my TL to fire -- my stupidity

I changed the valve cove gasket yesterday and took the car out for a drive. Less than 3 miles from home, I saw crazy smoke comming out of under engine hood.
Pulled to a QT and opened up the hood, I saw fire on the exhust manifold right below the engine near passanger side fire wall. Luckily, I had two bottles of water in the car and I poured in down, got rid of the fire.
The valve cover probably did not sit right in place and engine oil was dripping, I have yet to confirm this but I think that's what caused it.
Towed the car home. I will re do the gasket later today.
Luckily, I saw it in time or it would have been tragic.
As I saw fire, I screemed and my wife took our nine month old daughter out of the car seat and ran that was something ....

So, what I learned is, recheck and make sure everything is in order before drive off or leave these type of work for the pros..... I will be attempting to fix this later today (lol).

I thought I'd share this experience with you all.

DAMN!! Be sure to rinse off the surrounding area after any work is done. I just changed my brake master cylinder myself, and I rinsed off the splashed brake fluid with water after I bled the brakes. Good luck with the repairs, and I hope that no wire harnesses were damaged!

~Cheers~

ok, just got done with the repair and drove the car for half hour, everything is back to normal. It took a while for the recedual oil to burn..
I am glad there was no melting or damage to anything else.

let me tell you guys, it was very scary to see fire under my tl...
And you know how women are...my wife said not to do any more diy in the car. She was also mentioned that it was very upsetting to see the TL on a flatbed.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's prayer.

Ok, here’s the first fatality caused by my stupidity.
The Check Engine light came one. I read the code and it is P0141 (P0141 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2).

Has anyone changed the secondary 02 sensor themselves?
Is this a difficult diy? I already reset the code but came right back.
So, do you guys think the excess heat / fire on exhaust manifold caused this?
