wassup fellaz... anyone know how to aim headlights????? i just recently took out my philipz ultinon bulbs and put in the oem 4100k philipz bulbz.. with the casper sheilds.. i'll post pix later.... but i dont konw how to aim them.... i tried aiming the fogs.. but when i put them on.. and turn the knob... the light doesnt move anywhere... and also... does anyone know if the light can be aimed with the caspers sheilds on them?? thanks alot.. any feedback would be hightly appreciated..

 

I'm not really into the names of parts... but i know what they are... either way i think you are talking about the bulbs in the headlights... well, first of all you didn't need to take the headlights out if you have the TL... or any other car for that matter unless its older than an 85 or so... but if for some weird reason you did take out the headlight... completely... the head like for the TL has a little vile or balancer on the light that kind of points you into the right direction... other than that... i wouldn't know how else you can align your headlights... i bet someone here knows a bit more than what i just told you... good luck on aiming them... and really... post some pics so we can check this out... especially because i have no idea what a "casper sheild" is... Someone school me...

 

There are two different places for a Philips screwdriver to go in and adjust it.

The two holes towards the grill are for vertical. The hole directly behind the headlights is for the horizontal.

 

The shallow hole is for adjusting the fogs. But they don't seem to make much difference.

The really really deep hole (you need a long necked screwdriver) is for the headlights.

 

In case anyone needs this info as well:

To aim your headlights, find a flat surface (you'll need a 20 foot run or so) with a vertical wall (i.e., a nice flat driveway and a garage door). Ideally, it needs to be 90 degrees; obviously, this would be hard to get right on, but get as close as you can. Oh, and it should be dark.

Drive up with a few feet of the wall and turn your headlights on. Mark on the wall an "X" the center (as best as you can tell) of the headlight beam. Then, move the car back about 10 feet or so. The center of the beam should have moved slightly down and slightly right.

You can do this in reverse, too. That is, start about 15 feet from the wall and mark the center. Then drive right up near the wall and see if your center is now a little higher and to the left.

I never adjusted my headlights, but I notice there's levelers (bubble in water tube) on my headlight unit. I guess their suppose to help you out.

 

My problem is that I can't aim my headlights because the headlight casing isn't attached into the bodywork all the way.
