aftermarket head unit

well, i pulled my stock head unit out and called the dealership with the serial number but the code they gave me still didnt work so it must be a problem with the head unit itself. the guy said that they can send it out to be fixed but its a flat rate of about 500 bucks. so needless to say i dont want to spend that getting the stock head unit fixed and am now looking for a good aftermarket one. first, do our cars have a 6 speaker sound system? if so, would buying a 50W x 4 head unit leave 2 of the speakers not working? i know very little about car stereos. id like to spend under 150 bucks, and want one that sounds as good or better than the stock one did. which one from this list would you recommend? or do you know of any ones that arent listed which would be good? thanks

our cars have 8 speakers.

your tweeters up by the lights won't work with an aftermarket deck unless you rig it up to work. You could do without it if you buy decent component sets. the downside of component sets is you have to find a place for your tweeters and the only place i can think of that looks clean and hidden is in the kick panels in the footwell area.

if you want to get a deck from bestbuy, go for the alpine decks. i PERSONALLY like them b/c of their looks. bestbuy also has open items on sale sometimes so look at those. any aftermarket speakers will sound better than your paper stock ones so buy whichever you want. listen to them and see what you like and what fits your budget. anything aside from your stock paper speakers are better so choose whatever fits your pocketbook. to get the FULL potential of these speakers, you will need an amplifier too so look into those. amps are "probably" the most expensive audio toys you'll have to spend money on..

Alpine = Most OEM Honda decks, so they've got to be doing something right!
