? about Front Rotors & Pads
I have a 96 3.2 TL & I need to have the front rotors & pads replaced in the next month or two. What is the general opinion on getting them done at an independent shop instead of a dealer? My car has 119,000 miles on it & I plan on keeping it at least two and a half more years.

i would recommend just getting the brake work done somewhere else rather than the dealership.. they usually rape everyone on the labor, unless they have some kind of special..
people can recommend cross-drilled/slotted rotors, but just for your information, those rotors are just blanks that some machine shop modified.. i recommend you just stick with oem rotors if you plan on keeping it for a while.. to my knowledge, the machined rotors are not able to be resurfaced. some people have those rotors and had them warp on them..
as for brake pads, i recommend metal masters.. a bit pricy than those average replacements, but i personally love them.. in my opinion, the performance on the pads are dramatically better.. also, i've had the same pads on for over 3 years and they still look new.. heres my .. hope this helps..

I would recommend Brembo blanks for the rotors, which are made to the exact same fitment specs of the OEM ones. They seem to last quite a bit longer before they need to be turned (compared to the OEM ones).

I'd recommend doing it yourself if you have basic knowledge of your car since a 3.2 is a lot easier then a 2.5. If not an independant shop is fine. For the rotors brembo blanks work perfectly. Pads metal masters are great pads but I prefer axxis ultimates, but they won't last nearly as long and dust like crazy.
