96 2.5 tl vacuum controlled engine mounts

Can anybody explain the sequence of operation and the purpose of the engine mount control solenoid? It appears that I have a busted mount but when I disconnect the engine mount vacuum hose from the solenoid and put a vacuum pump on the line I have no leak and the problem disappears. When I metered the vacuum on the solenoid, I get vacuum on idle but no vacuum on acceleration.

I moved your thread to the 1G TL Forum, which is more applicable to your question.

It stiffens or softens the mid-mounts based on acceleration. If you're just cruising around, it'll keep the mounts soft for comfort, but stiffen it for performance if you get on it a bit.

It softens at idle and stiffens at speed.

I disabled my 2.5TL mounts to see any idle effect and could detect none. It was same idle (smooth) both ways.

I thought I had damaged mounts but have sinced changed my mind. While I was investigating I decided I would buy Acura Vigor mounts. They are essentially the same but w/o the vacuum stiffness modulation feature,...and about 1/2 cost of 2.5 TL mounts.

good luck
