3.5 Rl
Hey guys,
I just wanted to make sure before I gett in over my head. The 3.5L engine from the RL will swap out with the 3.2 without any problems or modifications, right? And my tranny should bolt right up? I'm taking it from a 97 RL with 65,000 on it. Thanks in advance for the help!

You need the complete engine, the RL ECU and a custom motor mount.
Otherwise, yeah its a straightforward swap

^ More than that Ken. While a 97 might be a bit easier to do than my 2000, but I only wish it were that easy. Would've been done a bit sooner, hehe.

off the stock motor, you need:
all motor mounts (Including front cross beam the motor mounts onto)
engine harness
fuel line
injectors? (we're still working this out since it seems to be running a bit rich)
some of the vacuum lines
EGR valve
TCS plug socket
you need the RL motor with the front passenger side mount.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head.
btw, no you don't need the RL ECU. Remember, we used an 00 RL motor which is OBDIIb, so your 97 OBDIIa motor might have the correct wiring harness already.

Almost ALL of the vacuum lines. BTW, the 24 that you had cut from the old motor really fucked me up. That was the only line you did and you replugged it into 3! That had me stumped for awhile. Not to mention, you left too much of it on the old motor, so that line couldn't be re-used.
Also, I said I wouldn't let any info out here, but in the other thread so that might become a How-To and get stickied. Why did you post that stuff here?

Correct wiring harness yes, but I'd imagine the RL's C35 does things differently (different fuel maps?)

^ Different maps are a given but the route I'm taking doesn't require them. I also believe that our ECU is capable of running the C35 better than the C35 ECU can, just based on the differences in said maps. Unless I find an 02-04 ECU, and swap the ENTIRE harness to an OBDIIb one (including dash part), I'm not interested in using it.
