2.5TL tach/engine(?) "jumping" in 4th gear

Help, my car drives great and seems to shift OK. However, after the car enters 4th gear, if you press on the gas even slightly, the tach jumps about 200 RPM, then back. Only when it's pressed lightly. If you step on it, the car downshifts fine and takes off. Anyone have any ideas? The car was taken to a local Honda/Acura shop and they didn't say any problems related to the engine or transmission's performance. However, they may not have gone out and cruised over 45mph??? They did find the 2 "normal" oil leaks at the oil filter and distibutor, the engine mounts are worn, and a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold. Any ideas about these? Thanks!

u sure it isn't your torque converter releasing when u slightly press on the gas to increase ur speed. after you let off and hold the gas steady the torque converter should lock back up and your rpm should fall again...

No, it definately jumps about 200 rpm. Fells like the engine does the same thing. It simply doesn't do it any other time or lesser gear - only in 4th. Sounds strange, could it be the overdrive screwing up?

When torque converter disengages, engine rpms will rise as load is released and some engine effort is lost to torque converter slippage. When you release the gas pedal pressure, the torque converter relocks and rpm drops down. It is not supposed to "hunt" back and forth and the TCU should prevent this. Bottom line I think this is probably normal.

There was a recall on the emission control system and exhaust manifold. Acura will replace manifold, spark plugs, distributor rotor/cap, and wires if mileage is < 150K. I had this done on my 2.5TL at ~95K miles.

good luck
