Question 2.5 vs 3.2

I've got a '96 2.5 TL. It really seems like it's a turd even though it was marketed as the "sport" version. Just wondering how a 2.5 stacks up against a 3.2 from the line, on the freeway etc.

Also, does anyone here have 2.5 that has done mods to the engine to maybe give it a tad more power.

Thanks.

the 2.5 has 176 HP and the 3.2 has 200 HP, honestly i dont know enough about the car to understand why the 2.5 is the "sport" version, maybe acura made some subtle diffrences but im not sure, as for mods u can do to make ur TL a little faster there isnt many. So far all i have done is put in a K&N cone filter (got rid of my stock air box). K&N also makes a drop in for the TL now. I added a breather, and I'm dropped my muffler off (Believe it or not it sounds very nice if you like your car loud.) AEM also makes a fuel pressure regulator, JET performance products i believe makes an ECU uprgrade (which is probably crap) and then there is always the ignition stuff like and MSD box and NGK wires, but other than that, thats it, other than Nitrous

It would be a very close race if raced. But ya 3.2 is a little faster. My 2.5 is fast to me.

Well, I don't really care about the subtle differences between the 3.2 and 2.5. I had to drive my bro's '93 Ford Ranger, with zero acceleration on it, today. Man, let me tell you, I am really happy with my 2.5. If you aren't satisfied with your car's horsepower, go and drive a clunker 'cause then you'll realize how fast our cars really are...

well my car with what ive done to it runs a 15.67 (measured on a G-Tech) which is fast enough for me, once i get a new job, im hoping to save up and drop a 55 shot of Zex in which should bring me down to low 15's high 14's. and i havent done much to it just a few things, cutting the pipes helped so much

You are running 15.6's w/ a muffler and K&N? :wow: I only managed a 16.8 w/ the g/f in the car. You should go to a real drag strip to see what your car can really do...

I have a 3.2, got 15.2 on the 1/4, just the K&N drop in for internal mods.

Yes, the 3.2 is about 150 to 200 pounds heavier than the 2.5.

One thing though, both engines are slightly UNDERRATED by Honda. This is something Honda has done for a long time time. In reality I've been told by people in the know who have done dyno's.. the 2.5 has about 182 hp at the crank and the 3.2 has 210 hp.

Too bad the 2.5 couldn't come with a 5 speed manual like the previous Vigor did. That 2.5 can scoot.

I've found that if you keep the 2.5 in D3 that you can really get it going, it just has to be around 4 grand the whole time

Any your right, a 5 speed would make the car awesome. Damn those automatics

Same way here, 99000 miles and it's still smooth as glass. Maybe it's INVINCIBLE!!! MUHAHAHAHA....or not.

My guess is somewhere around the 130k mark I'm gonna see problems.

96,000 miles on my 1997 3.2, no problems other than an occasional squeak from the glovebox latch. Yes, its that reliable :P
