2.5 Differential Fluid Change Interval

In the shop manual it says every 15000 miles some other people say every 60000
Can we come to a consensus on the right change interval

Acura 2.5TL shop manual says every 30K miles or 24 months for Normal service conditions, 15K is for severe service.

I'm probably about 100K overdue. Yikes!

regards

i would change it the same time you change your tranny fluid since it is essentially for the same component... 'tranny' related...

sorry, what benefit does this differential fluid offer? i always thought differential fluid was...i guess another name for transmission fluid. so according to what ive read so far, its 2 diff fluids? my car doesn't shift gear hard at all, prob b/c i had the transmission flush at my last major tune up (60k) and im now at like 108k.

I agree. a transmission and a differential do basically the same thing, so treat them the same, only with different fluids

Same as oil, unscrew the plug in the base of the differential, drain, reinstall plug, and refill from the horizontal fill plug on side of differential. You will probably need to thread a fill tube down through the engine bay and into the fill opening, while pouring from engine compartment.

good luck

Dont forget to wipe all the metal filings off of the drain plug tip.
Mine was like 3 inches long and wide full of the shavings. Looked like a turd
