If it's that well maintained....around $4k-$5k easily

I've seen well maintained TL's with over 150k still going for $2k.

^ exactly, and if you do alot of work to it you have alot of room to play with there. im sure there are alot of members who have a rediculous amount of replacement/ aftermarket parts that are new. regardless of kbb i make sure thats accounted for.

It will be a stretch to get good money on it, the used car market is depressed...but you can always try. Good luck!

the fact is still that it is an 11 yo car... so with people in the used car market, they may just look for something newer but a 4 banger could put them in the exact price range as what you may be looking to get for the car...

4-5K. I still see 98's with ~150K going for 4-4500.

That's a rare find. Keep in mind that new TL's are not built like the 1st gen. I'd take 1st gen over 3rd any day.

that is why i plan to drive every car i own until the wheels fall off... the hit you take on depreciation just isn't worth you just keeping the car...

whereas i would agree with you on SOME aspects after owning for 1G for 8yrs and having virtually no issues during my ownership... there just isn't enough there for me to pick a 3G>1G... if the 1G came in a 6spd like the Legend, then yes...

but i would go Legend>3G>1G>glass tranny 2G

This would be an awesome car with a 6MT.

Yes, this car doesn't have the same options or features (hell, mine doesn't even have moonroof) but I've driven multiple 3rd gens, 6MT and auto and I just don't like them. They feel cheap, they rattle, the understeer is terrible. I felt the same about 2nd gen.

There are many cars I'd take before getting a 3rd gen, like your GS

I have already started to look around for my next car. I am thinking either E39 540i/530i with manual tranny or gs300/400. As soon as I am done buying house I'll be doing something about my car.

Turned 20, bought a 99 GS400. Put 16K miles on it and sold it. Changed the oil twice...that's it; and I got it with 95K miles on it. The GS is a very solid car, do your timing belts, and everything else is gravy. I've been eyeing up some 01-03 GS430's but we just bought a condo so it's going to have to wait

I'm going to have to agree here. My buddy has an 02 525i and he's sunk $4K in repairs in the last year and he just hit 100K miles. They are good cars in terms of fun to drive, engine and trans, but little stuff will really nickle and dime you.

GS-F is hoooooooot.

I can't wait for the 06 GS430's to drop in price. I'd love a white one with the 18's. That car is beautiful.

yea but at a ridiculous sticker price for the F, i will prob just get a used 3GS and boost that instead... when the 06's begin to drop under $20k ill think about trading in the 3G TL...

isn't that enough???

with your cooling probs, the fan is driven by the engine... those owners that had the clutch on the fan seize would have a fan shooting up into the hood... and little electrical probs like dead pixels in your radio screen... means u have to change the whole thing out etc...

unless it is under warranty, just

That's the beauty of Japanese cars. You get good quality and reliability, whereas Germans offer good quality, but if your car breaks down (and it is more likely to do so) it will cost way more to repair. German cars are for people who can really afford it.

I'm waiting for them to get around the $15K mark, should be another year or two; in the mean time I'll scoop up a high miles GS, I trust those cars.

I've also added a 06 M45 to the list, saw one with nav and sport pack for $16K in the Winter with 99K miles on it, should have gotten it

If a Lexus breaks down, it will cost a lot to repair as well, it's about how they're built; especially electrical systems.

Also, back in the day, the German cars had a lot over Japanese cars in terms of performance, fun, etc. With the GS, some of the new Infiniti's, (hopefully Acura to follow soon), Japanese cars have become spirited as well, matched with their reliability they have a great competitive advantage; hence the success of the G35...

Ls is pretty boring; it's a great car, awesome for long trips, reliable, comfortable, etc. but it's just not fun to drive. I've driven a few, last one I had for 3 weeks was an 04 LS430 and IMHO GS>LS FTW!

agree... esp is it is a GS3 NA-T... the LS430 would prob be equivalent to a 7series or MB S-class... its a yacht...

The 7 and the S class feel better, it's something about that car.....with the S and 7, you can adjust the suspension, make it a little more fun.....the S430 is a little slow, but the S500+ rides amazing. Almost picked up a 01 S500 with the AMG sport pack 2 years back, car was awesome...during inspection, it needed a new Cat....$1900; that was the last Mercedes I looked at.

old pic... just dropped $600 on new tires 2 wks ago... but i also have the stockie 16"... which is fine... great for when winter time comes around... i have since installed Tein strut bars and Daizen bushing kits... but that is it, since like i mentioned, dad keeps taking the car... so ill either Turbo the 3G TL or wait and trade in the TL for another GS... we will see...

after its first polish this year.

I got mine after having a brand new Spec V in '04. All my friends were into "tuners" back then and were making fun of me for getting a "grandma" cruiser.....then I came out and did a power stand. The GS has got tons of power, is comfortable and I got 23mpg on long trips and 20-21 mixed....it's a great car all around.

Right before I got my GS I had a black car, it was terrible. Every time I washed it I was forced to either go over it with an orbital or give it a quick wax.

I detailed cars back then and I was a little anal; but I am not a fan of dark cars anymore....the GS was silver as you can tell, the thing looked clean at all times, no matter how dirty it was. You can clean the wheels and put some tire dressing on and it looks like it came out of the detail shop

Black is tough to take care of man MAN it looks good when it's clean!
