1995 tl?
I found a 95 TL on ebay that has ~247,000 miles on it. Tag says it was produced in 12/94. Looks like it was one of the earlier built TLs, the 129th one to be built from the vin#. So are the 95 TLs rare? Here's the link to the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEAP...item35a42c44b9

Heh, Auction says its a 6 cylinder, its obviously a 2.5 TL, the VIN backs it up that it is a '95.
First I've ever seen.

my 96 2.5Tl has cloth...built date was sometime in 1995. Back then there was a base and premium package, premium had different wheels and leather/sunroof. I also had a 96 2.5TL premium before and it came with the diff wheels and leather/sunroof.

Yeah, the 'base' and 'premium' existed on the 1st gen TL's untl 1998, thats when the 2.5 and 3.2 included everything. The ONLY option was TCS on the 3.2 TL.

My guess would be that the production number of the '95 2.5TLs were very low, thus making it rare. Just curious, if the 1st gen TLs started in 1995, then why does the 1st gen forum says 1996-1998?

They were extremely rare..
Some background info:
When the TL first came out, the US and Japan were bickering over tariffs on cars, so for several months certain models were suddenly shut out of the country. This includes the TL.

So.. this 1995 TL is an OBD-I car and could use ANY Vigor engine part, including the ECU. Meaning that making it a 5 speed manual is very easy. Plug and play.

I think it's interesting that the TL is being introduced as a 96 model. The one I drove had a production date of January 1995. However, 1996 is a significant year; it's the year that all cars sold in the U.S. must comply with ODB II diagnostics, a requirement that adds many expensive technological enhancements to the vehicle control system. Press material I received for the TL implies that both the 2.5 and 3.2 engines comply with OBD II, yet the car I drove does not meet OBD II diagnostic requirements, and the EPA sticker under the hood says it complies with "regulations applicable to 1995 model year new motor vehicles."

This is good info for those with the '95 model who plans to do the 5 speed conversion.
