Windshield reservoir leak
Gang -
I think I have a leak in my windshield washer reservoir on my 1996 Acura RL. I believe that there is a separate "filler neck" which fits into the main reservoir which is inside the fender well and inaccessible without removing the fender liner. My guess is that the leak is where the filler neck fits into the reservoir. I say this because it will leak until the level gets down to about 6" from the top - then it seems to stop.
Given that it's way too cold here in New England right now to dig into the fender well my "fix" is just to not top off the fluid and simply keep it below the point where the neck joins the main reservoir.
I noticed it right after the car was serviced probably because they topped off the fluid. Then I topped it off and the next day it was down 6"
Anyone experienced this or have any ideas?
Thanks.

I beleive the filler tube is an accordian like piece that simply pops on. under that is the actual reservoir. It takes like a gallon or so I believe.
Your not supposed to fill it up all the way to the top. There should be a float in the reservoir that will rise and let you know when its full before filling up the neck.

filler tube

Thanks for the response. My filler tube is rigid plastic and semi-transparent like the typical reservoir bodies - sort of like a plastic milk container. There is a very long dipstick but I don't think there's any float. I'll check the owners manual tomorrow to see what it says - I could very well have been overfilling it.
I did look tonight with a flashlight and it appears there is a right angle bend as it disappears into the fender housing and it looks like some sort of rubber sleeve that connects the neck to the main reservoir. But the leak seems to have stopped so I don't think it will be a problem if I don't put too much in.
If this is my biggest problem I'm in good shape!
