Wheel Fitment Question

Hi all,I have poured through the forum and internet hunting for information, but I've reached a brick wall and could use some help.

I would like to give my parents my old 2005 Acura TL Wheels (+ tires) so that they can use it on their 2001 Acura RL and not have to purchase brand new tires.

2001 RL Stock Tire - 215/60-16
2005 TL Stock Tire - 235/45-17

I'm having trouble figuring out if it will fit without rubbing. Here's what I think I know so far:
  1. Both bolt patterns are the same - http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse...._Reference.cfm
  2. Total diameter will be different and result in a speedometer that is 3.18% faster than actual vehicle speed - According to http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
  3. Here's an attempt to mount those wheels from a few forum members - https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=235
    1. Kaiserseal got a 2005 TL rim on his RL with no issues but I don't know what year his is.
    2. NastyRLEY got a 2005 TL rim on his 1996 RL with no issues.
    3. LJrl had an issue with offset using chrome replica TL wheels, and they rubbed in the rear.
  4. In the previously mentioned thread - Ken1997TL has scared me into thinking that the rim will fit the pre 1999 RL but not the 1999+ due to model year differences. It's not his fault; it's more my own ignorance.
Can someone correct any of my misconceptions or provide me with a little more conclusive evidence that these will or will not fit? Worse comes worst, I'll have them mount it and try it out, but I'd like to avoid the pain if someone else has already been through it.

Thanks!!

I have seen a few members here post pic of their 1st gen RL's with TL wheels. Have you sifted through the pages of posts? Do that while you wait for an exact confirmation from a member.

From: Passing you............now
I ran 225/50/17 tires with TL wheels at stock height equals no rubbing whatsoever... it will only rub if you slam the car to the ground....it happened to me before. I hope this helps.

Please post up some photos if possible. I just got a set of Megan coilovers and front and rear camber kits to put on the RL sometime this month.
