i dont think you saw 22's they were at most 21" anything more and you would need to raise your car in order to fit them. Remember you also need a tire on that big wheel to protect it. i think you need to reconsider, becuase the car doesnt look good with anything over 19's. If you are pushing a 20" rim it better look real good and have nice fitment.
To sum up, 22" is not gonna happen unless you raise your car, Air suspension is a quick fix.

again, i dont recommend 20's All and most VIP ka9's in japan are 19 inch max many do 18" but 19" gives you a nice flexibility for slaming your car and acheiving tsuraichi. Offset isnt the only thing you need to worry about, you also want to make sure the tire is the right size for a stretch fitment. regular fitment for over sized rims just wont cut it. you will have a blow out if you hit big bumps. My recommendation would be to stay with 19's there are plenty of 19's that are beautiful. Idealy you would want a nice JDM 2 or 3 piece wheel. you can definitely fit a 19x8.5 +35 its only 2mm. and thats on normal disk, if you get a super low disk, you will be fine.

Yea i understand what you guys are saying but i dont plan on lowering my car im trying to find out how to make the 20x8.5 fit and i plan on using a 225 35 20 series tire. I live in va and the part i stay in, there is not many road issues and i dont travel that far anyway. I appreciate your suggestions though.

Actually, very few here are into racing and only small portion are really nuts about performance, especially on the RL end of the site. I'd say the most common trait of users here is maturity and pragmatism (of course there are exceptions).
Shoehorning 22 inch wheels on such a nice car is in the view of most, a silly idea. The effects on handling and ride quality will be severely negative and it just looks stupid.
Obviously it's your car and you can do what you want with it, but the point that people are trying to make is that you will likely regret it. You're young though (I'm guessing from the way speak/type anyway) so have at it. At least when you look back on it later you can blame it on the folly of youth.

From a looks standpoint, alone, don't do it.
What year is your RL? How many miles? What's its value? From a financial standpoint, I'm guessing 22s would not make too much sense. Why sink money into it (other than obligatory maintenance--which is inevitable)?

22's w pics
22 x 8.5 with 245/30/22 Nitto 555 tires. I borrowed them from a friend with a Lexus GS300. The Wheels are obviously too wide and scrub even though i had the fenders rolled in the rear with double locknut spring spacers raising the car an inch.
Even if i purchased 22 x 7.5 inch wheels with the smallest tire a 235/30/22 tire which is rediculous i think i would still have scrubbing issues. so the wheels are coming off and going back to my 20's.

Please don't do this to such a classy car, unless you are not planning to drive it (e.g. show car), in which case, rock on!
a car you are having to RAISE to fit a 22" wheel causes a dangerous situation with handling. Not only is it not practical, it is not safe.
Good-looking 20's are about as far as I'd go.

Donk RL I had 26" wheels on my Tahoe when I was 19. I now think they look stupid and dropped it down to 22" wheels. 22" wheels are for trucks not cars. 20" at the most on a RL. Otherwise it looks like the goofy kid who had a growth spurt in the 6th grade. Big wheels get the attention of the police too easy.

Anyway...
22s, I personally wouldn't put them on the car. 20s are the most i'd be comfortable riding on. if you're into the Hi-Sider/Riser look (a misuse of "Donk" shows the vast, prevalent ignorance of an unknown car scene) then i say go for it. Do what you do, man, and make it happen.
Post up the pics as i'm curious if you fit them on the car the right way and if you were able to get some clearance. Typically FWD hi-siders have massive amounts of poke.

haha thanks man. i'm not one to talk much about things before i get them done, but i'm in a good mood so what the hell. car is - at this very moment in the paint shop (same color just fresh coat w/ all dings taken out back to perfect body status), coming in are - obx headers, full lightweight Labrat pulley set (crank pulley is from Telion), camshafts getting regrinded at webcams, throttle body bored out by maxbore.com & redoing my current cai. yes i have a legend also with a 3.5 rl motor ready to swap in but myself & a couple other guys just wanna start doing more stuff with the RL body platform performance wise. proper ecu/chip tuning is somewhat in the works but no for sure's on that yet.
