TL or NSX wheels on an RL?

I found a guy selling 05 TL chrome rims with tires for cheap. I have been trying to check fitment, and it looks like rims on a TL or NSX will fit us. 18X7.5 114.3 with our offset around 45 and TL around 38. Does anyone know if they are close enough to fit. I had a previous nightmare putting RSX rims on my accord, and had to shave my brake callipers for a fit. Would rather avoid this problem if I can. Too bad the 06 rims are a no go, all new size.

They will not fit. The RL uses a 5x120 bolt pattern, not 5x114.3.

I have a 1998 RL and am looking at putting the 05 TL 17x8 chrome wheels on it. Can you send me a picture of yours with the TL wheels on it so I can see how they look?

Thanks

TL Wheels

I will try to post pics over the weekend, I have nothing but compliments from all including the Acura dealer. The wheels are a little wider and do stick out a bit, but still have a factory look. Interesting news is the way the car handles. On my local onramp off the expressway, I would start to loose it at 45mph. The new wheel tire combo gets me to 65 through the curve. Fit is perfect, no problems, and I am using the lug nuts from my old RL wheels. The TL wheels came with pressure sensors that of course don't do anything, but they don't get in the way either. The tires that they put on the TL wheels are much more noisy though, but hey for the price, all is good.

Tire Size

What size tire do you have on the TL wheels? I was thinking about 225/50/17. There is a guy on ebay selling the wheels in Florida.

I have pictures, Help!

I have the pictures, but can't figure out how to post them, some help please! I am giving it a try, but dont think this will do it.

I was just reading back to my original post, and I did not get those wheels. I found a guy on ebay selling new take offs Aspec non chrome wheels with factory tires for $400.00 the tires are 235 45 17 Potenzas. These are more expensive as an option than the regular Pilots, but since they are noiser, and dont last as long, I would look for the Mich if you can find them. It took about two months to find some wheels local without people bidding them up. It seems most people won't bid on these wheels without a lot of feedback from the seller, since it was a local pickup I did not care, I examined them and then bought them. Less than 5 miles on the wheels, the tires still had those little rubber nobbies. I am not much for dressing up a car, but I think these wheels completely change the profile of the RL.

Thanks for the pics. Your car looks great with the wheels. Do you know whose Black RL that is on the second set of pictures posted from the Colt State Park Meet. They look like they may be chrome. Do you know if using uni-directional tires on a Rl and rotating front to back only will cause any cupping problems?

Nope, sorry. The guy I bought the TL rims from put the Aspec chrome 18's on his TL, and he did mention that he could not rotate the tires right to left. I was just glad to them for cheap. If anyone is interested I am listing the factory RL wheels with tires on ebay this friday. Price will be between dirt cheap, and oh my God what a deal.

Is that your RL shown in the second picture posted on page 14 of the Colt State Park Meet. It looks like it is black. If so do you have the TL wheels on it. What size tires are you running with. I am debating 225/50/17 or 235/45/17.

I picked up some brand new 05 TL OEMs with Pilot 235/45/17 tires. Bolted right on with no rubbing issues. My car looks awesome now; better than the aftermarket rims that were on. The ride and drive has improved a hundred times over, plus the RL looks more like an Acura again. And if you knew what I paid for the TL wheels...

James

yes that is my RL on page 14 black. i ran with the 235/45/17 which is the stock tire on the wheels. to prevent the rubbing i would recomend the same/ the ride is great and the tire is big enough. unless you plan to leave the car at stock hieght. i have and 1.5 drop all thge way around.

TL Replica wheels don't fit

I ordered the TL replica chrome wheels and tried them on my 98 RL. They had too little offset, 42mm. The stock wheels have a 65mm offset! They stuck out past the wheel wells and rubbed in the rear. Too bad because they looked good except for the offset. I returned them and have since installed a set of chromed TSX 7-spoke wheels, 17x7 with 55mm offset and 225/50/17 Bridgestone Turanza LS-V tires. This is a great set up. The wheels look great. They fillout the wheel wells yet look like a factory setup. I warn anyone not to go below a 45mm offset on a RL.

Depends on the year, 99+ RL's are a bit different.
