Tires

The time has come to replace my continentals. I was wondering is anyone had a good tire that they have on there RL. Im looking for something with a high speed rating, maybe V. I was looking at Yokahama AVID V4S, BF Goodrich Traction T/As, or Continental ContiExtremeContacts. I have compared them on tire rack but i want to know if anyone has had experiences with any of these. I live in chicago so i doo need a tire that has good snow and ice traction. Thanks!

All 3 are excellent tires. I have some Michelin Pilot sports on my RL.

why you need high speed rated tires huh?

i think most of the tires sold have at least a 130+ mph rating. speed rating doesnt really matter in the US, unless your...

The way I drive sometimes it helps alot. They also are very quiet smooth riding tires.

I was looking at the goodyears to. How do they prefrom in the winter and in the rain? Do they have good dry traction? I read the reviews on tire rack and theres always someone that says the ride is horrible and the traction is terrible, but they have alot of good reviews. I just dont want to get stuck with a bad set of tires as i dont have the money to go out and just buy another set.

I got the goodyears in Cleveland, OH. It drove fine for me in snow. I drove from Cleveland to buffalo in moderate snow for the area without a problem. They have more than ample grip. The ride is smoother and quieter than with my old Michelin tires I had on that I got from Acura. I noticed a big difference with them. I can't spin my tires unless I am on ice or a wet paint strip at a stop.

I recently purchased tires and also am from Chicago. I had Michelin OEM's on mine when I purchased Yoko AVIDV4S due to the good reviews on tirerack and their price and boy were they wrong. They drove like $hit and made my steering wheel shake at 65MPH. so I returned my yoko's and ended up buying the Michelin OEM's.(which cost extra money for shipping and mounting and balancing for 8 tires due to the return).

What I can tell you is that go to Discount Tires and buy the tires there and also not to purchase tires online. Discount tire(sams, costco, etc.)seem to be the cheapest out of all the local retail outlets. The good thing about them is that if you do not like the way your new tires ride, within 30 days, you can return them and have them put in different tires so in essence, you can try all of the tires that you listed above. I def. DO NOT recommend the yoko's. they're not any better than OEM Michelin in snow or ice or wet condition.

Learning the hardway, I think basically you have to sacrifice either one or the other from the following:

-Do you want comfortable Smooth ride?
-or do you want something that rides not as smooth but better in bad weather conditions.

I've found that it is impossible to have both. I went with the comfortable smooth ride over the bad weather thing. The Michelin OEM's arent that great in snow but you'll be fine if you drive slow and carefully in the snow/ice....

If i were you, If you don't want to go with OEM, I'd try the BF Goodrich or the Dunlops but whatever you do, do not go with the YOKo's

I'M REPLACING The Oems With The Toyo Versado Lx ALL SEASONS On Monday. Got Better Ratings Than The Michilen Pilots And Are Only $175 Per Tire. Anybody Else Try This Tire? I Will Post A Review Of These Tires After A Few Miles Have Been Driven.
