Srs light

Hey guys I have my 01RL and a few months ago my cruise control stopped working when my SRS light came on. Mechanic said I need a new steering wheel or really isn't sure how to fix it. He said that there is a sensor inside the steering wheel called clock or something.??? Any help is appreciated

There is an electrical connector within the steering wheel that handles signals for the airbag and steering wheel controls such as cruise control. The connector is called a "clock spring" and can be replaced by removing the steering wheel. I replaced one on my 99 Saab 9-5 but haven't had to touch it on my 98 RL. Looks like the oem part is about $300:
