RL Fuel Economy the Sweet Spot
Since the price of Premium hit $3.15 I have been experementing every week trying to find how to stretch my RLs range. Hope this helps others.
Drving 60 miles a day in Miami Heat, AC blowing.
80mph with Cruise 19 MPG
70mph with Cruise 24 MPG
80mph No Cruise 17
70Mph No Cruise 18
This is an average over several months in an 04 with 55K miles.

65 to 70 mph is a good sweet spot. While I dont have an RL to use it as proof, my '97 TL has the same transmission with the same gear ratios.

As I stated before, I USE my cruise ALL THE TIME. Never drive 80 as that gets you a ticket. I cruise about 68-70 mph with cruise on 99% of the time!
Thanks for the data and your time !

I have to bring this thread back. This is a very interesting comparison of using the cruise control/not using it.
I always thought that the cruise actually used more gas because it's constantly pulling the car and doesn't coast as much as it should.
Very interesting
