If you are considering to buy strut because of sagging and bumpy ride, you are wrong. You need to replace a set of rear springs.

This car needs both springs and struts, but my local dealer charges 15% over list for there parts. I can contact another dealer and get them much cheaper, but would reather put a lifetime warranty after market on it

Gummi, an alternate idea is to get some used '02-'04 struts and springs. They'll be much cheaper than getting new ones from the dealer. They'll be easier to install as they'll still have the springs installed on the struts. The ride will be much better as it's the stiffer '02-'04 struts/springs, and the bushings, seats, dampers, are all 5-7 years newer than the ones on your '97 so they'll be in much better shape.
I have a '97 and just got some used '03 struts/springs in great condition cheap. Installing soon.

15% over list! Check www.acuraoemparts.com for the list price. They sell the parts under list. You could buy the parts there and find a local independent Honda certified tech to install the parts.

Rower4VT, where do you find these late model rl parts? Im looking to upgrade the rear struts, springs and sway bars on my 96 with ones from a 03 or 04. If anyone else has suggestions please let me know...and sorry to the OP if this is jacking your thread.

Check out www.car-part.com I searched for a strut for a 2002-2004, then called the nearest junkyard that had it. They will generally cut you a good deal if you're getting multiple parts from the same donor car; e.g., if you get a sway bar and struts, or all 4 struts/springs, etc. It's also easier on them if they're selling you the strut and spring together and don't have to separate them.
My '03 struts/springs/swaybars, new end links and new front upper arm bushings have been sitting in my garage for near a month now. Still trying to find an afternoon to do the install.

I know you can use springs off of a Legend, but you need the fork off a legend to make it work properly. If you do a google search it will bring up posts from other forums about this.
