Radio Problems

My radio in my 2000 rl started sending code E after battery died. After many calls with Acura. we found that the code they supply will not work. They told me to go to Acura dealer and have them look at it. i am worryed that the radio will have to be replaced. Is there alternatives to this. this sounds like it will get very exspensive. PLEASE HELP

Do you have navigation?

If you don't, I might have an idea.

dude this happen same as my 2001 MDX. The code they provided only work with the radio but not the GPS. WTF. They told me to bring the car in and they going to charge me $80 lol. For your situation I think you need to take it to them.

Navigation unit is a 4 digit code and completely unrelated.

Radio is a 5 digit.

The reason it's $80 or whatever is because they have to look at the actual serial number on the control unit and then enter that into their database. In other words, they take your dash apart. Its a pain in the ass.

Before you do all this, pop the hood and open your fusebox. Check under the lid to see if there is a sticker that has the codes. Thats where mine are

When I was a dealer, I don't know how many times I've taken dashboards apart just to get the serial number

hmmm

have you tried pulling the radio fuse and the ecm/memory/clock fuse?

sometimes when things are running on extremely low voltage things go out of wack until it is reset.

that is of course if simply entering the radio code for your car isnt working and gives you an error.

that is what its doing correct? the radio is not spelling out code when you hit the numbers?

Yes it spells out C O D E and when attempted 3 times it spell "CODE E" i have pulled fuses under hood and by driver door. I talked to Acura in california and they called ALPINE to confirm code # and it is correct.
