My mechanic said high pressure hose is leaking so need quick info which hoses I need to buy and what brand.I had rack and pinion replaced 5 years ago.My understanding is that there are 3 hoses....high pressure,lower from rack and return hose so should I get all 3 replaced and is Gates good brand or Sunsong or any other listed on rockauto.

 

I'd take the Gates if OEM is discontinued.

 

Which brand is oem and which hoses do I need? Rockauto states to replace all but is that just sale gimmick.

 

None are. OEM are the original hoses made by Acura. There are 3 different hoses. 2 are generic pressure hoses (Low pressure return and the speed sensor supply hose). The high pressure one is the one made by gates. It supplies PS fluid from the pump to the rack. That one is the most important because if it breaks, that line holds over 1500psi of pressure if I remember correctly. I think you can use standard SAE 30R14 fuel hose for the other 2. Don't know the specific sizes they are though. Should be able to take the pressures and fluid easily. They are not nearly as high pressure as the inlet.
