Oil and Trans Fluid Mixing?
Oil and Trans Fluid Mixing?
Hi, I have a 2004 Acura RL with 186k on it. Changed the oil on it tonight, and noted that it was quite reddish in color and also above normal capacity. Checked the trans fluid and sure enough, it was low.
I think other Acuras, like the TL, have a transmission fluid warmer. Does the RL have this too? Could the warmer fail and cause ATF to mix with oil? I'm also noticing a pretty severe oil leak now too...

there is no way the two can mix as they are separate the transmission can leak from the front seal and the engines usually leak from the rear main crankshaft seal It is a bitch to change I just changed mine 2000 rl with 439 km on the clock I also changedt the transmission seal. First you have to wash the bottom and figure out where is the leak before you do anything
when last did you do an engine flush there is no amount of tranny fluid that can turn oil red
