hey there i have a 2002 acura rl i with no navi/ i was wondering if the navigation will fit my car if i purchase the whole thing from another acura that has it?

 

It will fit, you'll need the entire center console replaced.

Navi screen, radio and climate control. You'll need the navigation 'brain' as well that is in the trunk and GPS antenna. Finally, you'll need the wiring harnesses and install it all.

In my opinion, it would be much cheaper and easier to trade up and get a 2004 RL.

You either have to tear your car apart and pull all the wiring out of a car with navi or build your own harness if you know how.


Not to mention getting all the components and rewiring some pins and getting different plugs.

 

Yeah, I looked into it myself. Gutted half the interior and changed my mind.

Aftermarket stereo with bluetooth/iPod + 2008 disc on the navi will just have to do

The stock navi isnt bad, at least for what I use it for.

 

yeah plus the cd changer plug is different, so you'd have to switch that a swell.

hey guys yet again my rl is having problems i know i need engine mounts cuz the car shakes but the rpm dropping below 1rmp whhen starting and it goes up before 2 back down to zero on the rpm gauge does the engine mount affect the rmp or thats the tranny mount or injectors ? im so lost about this car let me know guys thanks

Nah, no tints. The RL went to the wife. I don't think she really needs them.

I actually just looked up wholesale values and from what I see on Craigslist, I think I can still get $6500 for mine after driving it for a year...new tires and detailed numerous times, the car is in much better shape than it was when I bought it.

Not that I'd ever sell it :P

I never realized you had such low miles!

I'm almost at 144K, but we don't drive it as much anymore as we used to so it should slow down.

 

Yeah when I got the RL it was just under 20,000 miles.

 

Wow those were low miles. I'm @ 76k and 10k since i bought it in june.

my commute to work is only 35 miles roundtrip...but i average about 20K miles a year though. when I got my RL almost 3 years ago, it had 80K on the odo; now it has 135K miles. 76K is awfully low miles.

vas25tl you are one lucky sob i bought mine for 9k in February 2009, i ended up paying 12k along with the finance charges

 

the same thing happen to me the rl went to the wife and now i on the process of looking for a 98 32 tl might even do the swap like go9ogo did to the 3.5 engine

 

Nice thing is a year and a half later and 23k miles, it's still worth 6000-6500

 

2 year anniversary with the RL in 2 days. 30K miles total put on the car, very glad I made the purchase two years ago. Only repairs to date:
-Tires, it needed them when I bought it
-Rear sway bar links
-Passenger front control arm
Just about to roll over to 157K miles. Acura sure knew what they were doing back then.

It's only been listed once and the guy has been busy with his native holiday festivities since i spoke to him on Thursday night.. Im sure more people have contacted him since almost every other RL has sold in the area with a similar price.... But he's been unavailable... We setup to meet Monday afternoon when he gets out of work...
I'm hoping the brief details he told me line up with a carfax report. ( i don't have the vin yet) if it does and everything else lines up... I'm just going to grab it.
