Need help: How to align camber, caster and toe angle?
Need help: How to align camber, caster and toe angle?
I need help from suspension experts.
I have 97 RL with 18" aftermarket wheels. I'm gonna replace front and rear camber kits for an aftermarket product. And also plan to drop the car about 1.5-2" with an aftermarket coilover. Anyway, I'm so tired of serious inner tire wear caused by alignment issue.
Can you help me how to install aftermarket camber kit and align camber, caster and toe angle by myself? Do I need special tools? Do I have to jack up the car for alignment? Does ground must be flat to do it? Your instructions and oppinions would be greatly appreciated.

I think your talking about doing an alignment in your garage which is next to impossible im thinking. Just take it to an alignment place, thats what i did after I got my new springs installed. it was only 45 bucks and they gave me a 3 month warranty.
alignment shops uses a rack and computer to measure how off your tires off. I dont think you have that in your garage.

Word. There's no way you can do it yourself unless you've got about $5000 in specialized tools. Just eyeball it when you initially set up then head to an alignment shop to get it dialed in. I wouldn't do much driving until you take in.
I've seen some buddy have done wheel alignment DIY. I'm not expecting doing it very precisely but roughly after I install an aftermarket camber kit for front and rear myself. As I know, the alignment is not that difficult, but I don't have basic background on it. I just need to know what should I work on for camber and toe alignment. The caster alignment is not important to me.
Oh! BTW, the 4 wheel alignment starts from $69 + tax here. In addition, it is much more expensive if a car has aftermarket wheels, lowered suspension, and alignment kit installed.

give a call around all the wheel, tire, brake and alignment shops. Also ask your friends for recommendations. 69 is commen here too but I found a small but busy shop. They just said 45 for larger rims and 25 for smaller.
Damn, ass hole in Louisiana! I got quotes for the wheel alignment around $300 here. Most of shops told me they cannot do it since I had installed aftermarket coilovers, wheels and camber kits, and dropped the car. But I ended it up doing by myself. I had spent such a great time and effort to figure out how to do the alignment precisely.
I had aligned the camber for -0.50 and toe for 0.00 all the way. I will never ever go to a shop for alignment. I would say shops are all suck! If you don't believe it, see your alignment data sheet. They don't do the alignment good. Check the cross reference value! I can do the alignment much much better than any shop can do.
