Head Unit Swap

From what I've seen so far, you need to spend over $200 on a dash kit along with the adapter. Are there any cheaper dash kits? And can I just use my own amplifier and splice into the power and ground wire to head unit to avoid buying an expensive wire harness?
Thank You, I've never had to deal with a luxury car removal like this before so it's a bit confusing.

The beatsonic kit is the only one that off the shelf will work. There are stories out there of guys getting Lexus LS kits to fit but it requires trimming and customizing. If you do install a aftermarket HU, there's no reason why you couldn't just bypass all of the stock stereo components, but you will lose things like on-star, nav prompts (if you have these things...).
