Drive Shift - D3 or D4?

Gurus,

Just curious to know the significance of the shift D3 in 98 Acura RL.

D3 is peppy that the D4 but is it recommended often during city driving?

D3 just prevents the car from going into 4th gear. Its useful on hills or around town, preventing it from hunting gears as much.

yes, it doesnt go into forth gear. So the engine will run at a higher rpm, meaning a hotter, thirstier engine. may cause more engine wear too. stuff like that is best suited for downhill, uphill or stop and go traffic to prevent the tranny from changing gears often.
