Considering Buying an RL

Is there any specifics I should look for in the car. It is a 2000 with 80k miles, no NAV but from what I can tell, looks pretty mint. I'm kinda at a toss up of going with something bigger or staying with a 2 gen TL. Any info would be apreciated though.

Very few things to look for. The 1st gen RL is very reliable. No transmission issues or major recalls.

One thing to check upon, is make sure the radiator and coolant is maintained, it will keep the engine running trouble-free for over 300,000 miles.

The other thing to check up on is if the timing belt has been replaced, if not it will set you back at least $750.

another thing, or two

you get slightly better highway gas mileage with the TL than RL as well as more torque, I think....

^^ Thanks guys. I went by to check it out last night but I think I'm going to pass b/c the car is at a Lexus stealership here in Houston and they only wanted to give me a wholesale trade in value for my TL of about 5k and I have been offered like 8200 at one of the Acura dealerships a couple weeks ago, so I told them nevermind.

Better highway mileage, thats true. I've had a loaner RL before (it was a 2002 I think) and I got 24 mpg. My '03 TL got 32 or higher.

However, the RL has more torque, but the added weight of the car will override that. It wont win any races but its smooth and quiet with a decent amount of power around town. Highway passing could be better.
