Climate Control Blowing Cold when at Idle

Been having trouble lately with my climate control.

When I'm at idle, no matter what heat setting I have my car at, it blows cold- warm at first, but then over about 10 seconds, it goes from the normal setting to absolute cold.

A/C doesn't seem to have been affected. this only seems to happen when the car is at idle- when I put it into neutral and give it a little gas (say up to 1,500rpm), then the heat comes back onto the setting I had it at.

The problem seems to go away over time (i.e. if I take a big trip over an hour or so).

Any thoughts before I take it to a mech and spend $200 to get it diagnosed?

Thanks!

Wow. Do I ever feel like a goof. That was the easiest 'fix' in the world.

I just topped up the coolant and it's fine now.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Make sure you bleed the system for any air pockets that might get trapped.

I had the same problem not too long ago.
