BC racing coilovers must read!!!

ok so i noticed no one makes coilovers for our cars. ok no biggie tsx coils can be used. well i decided to contact all the coilover companys and ask why we dont have any. and this is the answer i got from bc racing.

Generally we only make coilovers for platforms we know will sell or that have high demand.

Unfortunately the RL market is one we have never been contacted about before, so we have overlooked it as a candidate.

If you can show us there is a large demand for the coilovers, we will certainly be open to the option of producing some.

Regards,

Sam

so if you guys want coils we have to get a demand for them and bc will produce a set for us.

"Large demand," how many do they want in order to make this a reality lol. And most importantly is the price, how much does it cost? If it going to be around ~$700, then we might get some people to get on the boat.
Why don't you just get the TSX, TL, or Legend coilover? All of them fits the RL with some minor mod.

psh. BC coils for other cars are in the $900-1000 range...

and you're asking a company to R&D for you...
thats not cheap.

Ive been watching this thread since yesterday....with the amount of excitement(or lack there of)
I dont think this will be a reality.

A "large demand" can vary from company to company. Although I really don't see this happening, I would be interested in getting a definition of a "large demand".

I'm still fine with my K-sport Legend coilovers that are still going strong after 3.5 years...

I see where they are coming from, but i also see that if they decided to make a set and be one of the rare companies that do, they could make a killing since they'd be one of the only one to support us and all of the KA9 owners would pretty much have to go for them.

lol no this was just to see how much demand they could get. im acutally ordering tsx coilovers cause they are inexpensive lol so not a big deal. i was just curious how much of a demand there would be bc makes great coils. i have had sets on previous cars. and exactly like black hatch said they could make a killing seeing as they would be the only company to make them lol

As I've been saying for years... i think the K-sports for the Legends are still one of the best coils to use on our cars...

Get the Legend suspension forks for the fronts and drill 4 holes and the coils are on and complete. Mine have been great and lasted for 3.5+ years so far. Great ride quality on them and not bad for $800.

I'm just giving you guise a hard time...
I know how it is to finally see a company have interest only to pull back because there is no interest..

Good luck gentlemen

Unfortunately, while this is a good idea in concept, the large demand is not/will not be there. The number of actual people modifying their KA9's with different suspension setups is far lower than most other vehicles. The tried-and-true brands, which have worked fine after slight modifications, will continue to dominate the little demand there is at the moment. With price points hitting $1000 for the BC's, the cheaper alternatives will most likely come out on top. The need to not-modify these coil-overs would definitely be a plus, however I feel that it's a little too late to get into this market and still make a decent profit. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, but not now.

^^ yea i agree, not saying you guys arent right. and appreicate the help. just figured it was worth a shot lol. did the same thing for a past car cause there wasnt anything made lol. but if it doesnt happen it doesnt happen lol. im ether going with tsx coilovers or 91-05 legend coilovers like black hatch did. so hopefully one or the others work out. i dont see any write ups for tsx coilovers so i may just go that route and just do a write up on those.

Do we really need to drill out four new holes for the front? Can we put back on our OEM suspension in the future? Thx.

^^ the way it looks you only have to drill out 2 holes cause the ksports only look like they have 3 studs. and the other 2 are for the bar to bold down to if im seeing it correctly lol

Correct ^^^

2 holes in the top hats of the K-Sport coils to have the upper sway bar bolt down... no need to swap off top hats like on other setups. And when you're done, swap OEM back on and you're good to go
