Anyone else have a loose rear view mirror?

My rear view mirror will literally slide off the mount in under a mile on a bumpy road.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I tried using some silicon to hold it in place but it still wiggles. This isn't the first mirror to have the issue so I'm thinking either the mount on the windshield is worn down, or the bracket on the mirror is loose. I'm gonna try custom making a tighter mounting bracket this weekend.

I messed around with mine a few months ago when installing a mirror mount for my radar detector. Unfortunately, it didn't fit right despite the companies claim that the mount fits 99.9% of vehicles lol

I had this problem too. My solution is put back the rear view mirror the best you can and electrical tape around that bitch. It has been a year and my rear view mirror is still attach lol. Hope that help.

What part of the mirror did you tape? The mount on the windshield or the mirrors "stem".

Haha this is an old one. I ended up fixing it by using silicon. Still wiggles but never falls, I want to be able to remove it if my windshield ever breaks lol.

I have the same problem. It seems to be staying in place until I hit a bump hard. I'm not a fan of using silicon or JB Weld for fixes like this. After reading the exploding rearview mirror threads I think I will just buy a new one.

I had the same issue w 97 RL. I used this glass epoxy to fix it. Never fell off again.
