ABS & TCS lights on

I just bought the car a few weeks ago, and both of these lights were on when I bought it.

I am now to the point that I want to see what's wrong...

The traction control works, the button does disable it, and enable. The TCS light might not turn on the instant I start the car, maybe half a click into my journey... but the ABS light comes on instantly and stays on.

I actually haven't tested to see if the ABS works, I'm actually leaning towards it not working.. when we test drove the car I hit the brakes and I don't remember pedal pulsation.

Where do I start with this?

Thanks!!

Check the codes. Could be a wheel sensor. I've replaced a couple of those on the rear.

If the ABS and TCS are on and stay on I would look into the Vsa control module. Its the brains of the abs tcs and vsa. I had the same issue in my car. So i initially pulled the codes from vsa/abs and found that the right rear wheel speed sensor was bad. Repaired that issue. My lights were still on. I read the computer again and it had a communication code in the abs. Also i noticed when i hit the brakes hard I heard a abs pump noise. I went to pull apart and they had 1 rl on the lot. Found the vsa module on the abs pump. Paid 76.00$ for it. replaced the part with no reprogram and solved the problem. Come to find out the vsa module at the dealer is close to 1200$. Saved alot of money. Hope this helps you!

I had this problem years ago .... took to the dealer .... they replaced a wheel sensor ...... $$$ a year after light comes on again ....... I was told by a tech at dealership that sensors get corroded by water from rain, car washes, snow, dirt, salt and will trigger ABS/TCS .... if your like me ignore it ...... or keep paying dealer $$$.
