Maybe someone here can help me. We have an 04 RL for sale and it has green wood inside even though it has the Quartz interior. The wood is a color I've never even seen before and it looks stock to me. Any ideas as to what this might be?

There were 3 interior colors for the '04 RL:

Parchment, Quartz and Ebony. Parchment had brown wood, the other two schemes used a dark "black" wood.






Green wood would imply something custom made. It sounds ugly, I'd really like to see it.

 

Ebony and Parchment used the same mohagany color wood. The quartz used the same with limited ones had that grey wood.....I think it is grey in color may look like it has a hint of green to it.....Or that guy is color blind.

Whoa, is that a photo of your car's headunit with the navi and stereo? If so, what is that? It looks custom but resembles the factory head. I want something like that, looks sweet!!

That navi and headunit were only in the 2004 RL.

 

Wow, I'm jealous, I like that head unit. that's the only thing I don't like about my 02 RL is that trunk loading cd magazine and the lack of mp3 support on the head unit.

 

I do not believe the 04 supports MP3. I should get a photo of the green wood by Tuesday. No camera right now.

 

The '04 RL doesnt. It DOES have built-in XM, tape and 6 disc in-dash and TEN speakers though

Is your car parked in the sun a lot? Used any cleaners? Thats bizarre.

The actual wood is green. Only in the center panel not on the door panels or anything.

 

Warranty replacement?

 

The car had to have been made this way in Japan. I'm just trying to find out why it was made that way!

 

No idea. Since its real wood, its never the same in each car. But I DO know that in the 2 RL's with this interior color scheme, it looked just like the photo I supplied towards the top of the thread.

 

Just bought a 2004 RL, the wood on my center console is also green. The gearshift knob and side door panels are the dark grey/black like the picture above.

 

This is a known problem on the 04 RLs. The center console turns green. Take it to the dealer, they should replace.

 

Sorry to go off topic but can you drop the 04 H/U into an 02? I have an 02 and don't like the HU that much either....

Anyways, I have never seen that color wood before either...looks crazy.

 

The dash wood parts are VERY expensive and would think TWICE about having a mechanic "under the gun/clock" rip your dash apart to change those parts......think about it......Apparently the "grey wood dash" is prone to changing colors over time........Also its unlikely that the center dash "replacement" would match the door pieces etc.....like changing the leather on one seat.....it will NOT match even if its the same color..........colors fade over time.....

The thread maybe old, but that car I've seen on Ebay being sold resold, sold resold.......To have it done correct, someone is going to have to have "ALL" the wood pieces changed so they ALL match, otherwise it will remain "half ass"......

I have the name of the company in Japan that makes those wood peices if anyone is interested!

 

I dont think that the green wood is a modification.......When I purhcased my black '04 RL this past November I test drove three silver '04 RL's and they all had the same green wood in them (and two tone black. grey leather on the doors).... I asked the sells person about this odd and ugly wood color and was told it was stock....needless to say that was the main reason I didnt go with a silver (metallic or whatever color they call it) RL.

 

Exactly why I didn't buy it. The wood was not uniform with the doors. I'm happy with the burl color wood for my black rl.
