2002 RL - winter tire choices

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm looking for some recommnedation on winter tries (and sizes) for my 2002 RL. So far I have looked at the 2 below. I'm not sold on the Michelins.

Toyo Observe 205 60R16
Michelin X-ice 205 60R16

Any suggestions ?

Try the firestone winterforce or the yokohama snow tires. I had both on my TL and they were both the shit. My car was like a tank in the snow.

Another good choice would be the Fuzion HR-i. Not excactly a "snow" tire but it does very well in the snow. My mom has a set of them on her 2000 RL and loves 'em.

I installed the Fuzion VR-i on my RL and we got 22" of snow in Dec. and I am very impressed with them. I also have had them on a Merkur Scorpio for the past 2 years... Love Them!!

My dad has x-ice and loves them. I've had Blizzak WS-60's before and liked them a lot -I had them on a Mazda 6s on a 16" steel wheel and the car handled better than any SUV in snow.

Ordered new tires!

Well after a few weeks of debating on what to do for a tire (I was down to 5/32 and live in a very snowy climate) I finally pulled the trigger today.

I searched and searched for something and couldn't make up my mind on getting a snow tire and summer tire or a dedicated all season tire - we all know how well those do.

I actually ended up going with an all-season tire. Just pulled the trigger on some Continental ExtremeContact DWS's in a 225/55/16. Got them off Discount Tire for $392 with free shipping! I've never used Discount Tire and have always been a big fan of TireRack and their service but I got them for about $30 less on Discount Tire so what the hell.

After reading a ton of reviews of happy campers with quiet road noise and drive-ability even in 6-8" of snow, this is what I got:

I hope they come soon I NEED them now.

Nice, let us know how they turn out. I need to start looking for tires in the next couple months.

Going with OEM 16s. Did you decide against getting new set of wheels.

Yeah, I'm leaving the car stock. I'm not going to do anything which is why I decided on an all-season tire.
