04 RL Navigation Update Disc? is it better?

Just got the car bout 1 1/2 ago and it still has the original DVD for the Navi which is from 02. My question is, if I buy this 185 dollar disc (WOW!) does it update the software to make the navi seem, a little more with the times? Its seriously an out of date machine (I.E. if i ask it to minimize highways, it doesnt! LOL) and the lines are choppy and very DOS looking. Im sure it does not help this but if you say it does look more attractive and enhance the functions (decade newer update... for 185... it better!), then ill pick one up ASAP! Now if I could only find a promo code!!!

Why don't you drive it around some new areas and see if you get lost or not. Or take a road trip. That'll tell you if you need an update or not.

my city has changed DRASTICALLY since 02 so i KNOW thats a must. what i mean is the look and feel of the mapping, the lining, and most important, the routes (this one has I-95 as MINIMAL HIGHWAYS USE!!!:p) Thanks for the quick rely tho!

The updated map won't change any of the feel, lining or layout of the system; it'll just update the roads, streets, highways, and expressways plus the Points of Interests (POIs). So if you're used to taking a certain route, it may change that route due to new constructions. A disc being almost 10 years old is toooo out of date; you should update it if I was you. Mine is version 2010 and it's already out of date due to so many new buildings, restaurants, roads, etc.

You should look at the 2003 and below, it really looks outdated.

I remember you could change the boot screen. There's a couple of threads somewhere on the site about it. Believe its for a different model car.
