02 RL steering wheel audio controls

Just today my Volume control stopped working on the steering wheel. Can still change stations / cd tracks, but the up and down volume controls dont work. Is it just a fuse possibly or something else ? ? ? Ideas, suggestions, and insight ? ? ? ?

Had the same thing happen on mine. The volume buttons on the steering wheel control a motor that physically turns the volume knob up or down. The motor actually died on mine; required the headunit to be replaced.

Got a new Acura headunit (manufactured by Alpine) through www.hondapartsunlimited.com and had the dealer put it in.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple a fix as one would think.

Bingo. Replaced the headunit with the same factory headunit; while it may be branded as Bose, it is manufactured by Alpine.

Like I said, www.hondapartsunlimited.com has the best price you'll find.

...

Just came from the Acura dealer. They said that they would have to remove the steering wheel, and "dimple" the copper plate that was under the buttons on the audio controls. It was a service bulletin that came out in 06 for pretty much all Honda's and Acura's. They said that it isn't covered under warranty and it would be $170 for them to do it. I'm gonna call AcuraCare to see if they will cover it or not. Just doesn't sit right with me. But will repost after I talk to AcuraCare
