Anyone used the Michelin MXV4 S8?

My 07 RDX is due for tires. I have used the OEM Mich. MXM4 for 62K with good results in terms of handling and performance, but noisy.
I see on TireRack the new Mich MXV4 S8 on sale around $200. From the Michelin website info, these would be slightly more quiet, but a bit less handling performance compared to the MXM4. But better tread at 440.

Has anyone used the MXV4 S8? What's your opinion of them?
Is it now the OEM for new RDXs?
I drive in S.Calif. so mostly dry conditions, but spirited.
Thanks for any input.

The stock tires SUCK! I have never been more impressed with my RDX since i switched to a straight summer big performance tire.

If you are going with Michelin, the best option is the Pilot Sport A/S Plus (not available in 18" from the Rack).

Otherwise the P-Zero Rosso is also a good pick

The Mich is the best all season tire I've ever driven. Excellent water evacuation and outstanding grip. I should have put a set these on both vehicles but I cheapened out and bought the Yokohama AviD ENVigor for the RDX. I regret not spending the extra $500 (that's about my monthly restaurant/bar tab).
After-all, the only thing holding your ass off the cold hard pavement is your tires. Why be a penny pincher on the most important safety feature on your car.

None of these come in 235/55R18 and a little to high for my budget. I wanted the ExtremeContact DWS but not available. I just went with comfortred instead which has better reviews than the OEM tire or the mxv4 s8.

I'm curious to know how this turned out for the OP too!

In case stathis or anyone else was still interested (i.e. FWIW), I use the MXV4 S8 on a Mercedes B200; they are quiet and provide reasonable handling in dry conditions.

Yes, the B and the RDX are two completely different cars, but the road noise from the stock Pilot MXM4 RDX tires were really loud compared to the MXV4 S8. The latter were surprisingly, not as squishy in the corners as I would expect of a passenger car tire. They are not as quiet as the Michelin X-Ice2 tires currently on the car (even softer tires), but I would definitely consider them or the Michelin Primacy MXM4 (where possible) for the RDX...if I could not wait for the the Continental DWS' to become available and if I were looking for a quiet Michelin tire as the OP appears to be.

So far, we are very happy with the comfortred but only driven it for a 100 miles or so. Road Noise is a lot less than the OEMs and it feels a lot smoother - no vibration issues. Traction is good on dry and wet pavement (light rain only). Haven't really pushed the car yet nor any hard cornering since I don't get to drive the car that much (wife's car).

Give us a couple updates 500mi, 1000mi. etc. 100 miles is only long enough to wear off the release agent.

I just love how people keep saying the DWS isn't available??? I ordered a set online and had them installed locally the next day!

Guys, I got the MXV4 S8 tires, and have used them the last 5 months on my AWD RDX. I just love them. Much better than the original stock Mich Pilot. They are more quiet, and the fuel consumption is a bit lower, by around 0.5mpg.
We haven't had any real rain in LA since, so it's hard to say about wet behavior, but with some wet roads it still felt secure and good control, at least as good as the original Mich. Dry weather performance is pretty good.

Would you care to share where you got them so those who can't find them can get them?

Mavistire.com But, this was back in the fall. Just checked their website and the DWS is no longer available?! WTF? Glad I got mine before they were gone. This kinda concerns me.

Tirerack.com indicates the DWS is expected soon.

Last time I bought tires I researched the customer survey ratings on Tirerack and the Yokohama Parada Spec-X was the clear winner, blowing away the stock tires. I bought them and really liked them in dry and rain and one trip to the mountains in a blizzard where they saved my ass.

The DWS and the Comfortred are both also rated very highly and compare favorably with the Paradas with the DWS and the Parada duking it out for #1 in most of the categories and the Comfortred getting or tying for #1 in only 2 or 3 categories, but all 3 tires are neck and neck through most of the categories.

The Paradas are the cheapest by $60 to $80 for a set of 4 so I'll probably stick with what has worked for me in the past, but all 3 look like big winners over stock...

In looking at the breakdown of the wins, it looks like the DWS and Comfortred have wins in snow and the Parada has wins in cornering stability and dry traction. So, the Parada makes sense for me in California where I only get to snow a couple of weekends a year and the others probably win for those in snowy climates.

None of the tires is bad in those categories, they just aren't "the best of the 3" in those areas...
