Wipers gone crazy...
Wipers gone crazy...
Today, the wipers decide to run at full speed by themselves. Trying the wiper stalk to any position didn't change anything nor did turning the car off and and back on again - they kept on wiping at high.
A few minutes later they stopped and wiper operation was normal with the wiper controls. It was fine for a while and then the same thing happened an hour ago or so.
They stopped on their own a few minutes later - might be my imagination but going from park to reverse seemed to turn them off as I turned around. I need to see if there's a pattern I guess. The Acura dealer had no clue.
Anyone experienced this or venture a guess? I was thinking a relay is whacky someplace... To stop them I attempted to pull the 30AMP fuse from the inside fuse box to no avail. I tried a small screwdriver, needlenose pliers, and the little fuse puller that Acura provides (seemed to big for that). Maybe a smaller needle nose is needed.
Appreciate any input.
Also - I wanted to add that I was a little surprised with my dealer... - said it would be two weeks until they had a loaner car (RDX is under warranty) and that I would have to leave it and there was no guarantee it would be looked at by 2PM after dropping off at 8AM. I told him it sounded like Honda service....
Thx.

Well as odd as it sounds, I think the culprit was the DICE iPod unit. My 2nd one decided to die a slow death. Once it did, no more wiper issues.....
I also think it's weird that two of these DICE units have gone bad in a row. The posts indicate this is a pretty good unit. DICE is now suggesting that the cables be replaced, of course that means a trip to the install place. Odd that it would work perfectly for a few days and then stop. Unless the RDX has some electrical issue which I doubt....

Update --- Not the DICE unit, once I replaced the DICE unit with all new cables, no problems. So must have had a bad cable blowing out units.
Wipers - The Acura dealer replaced the wiper motor as they couldn't recreate the issue. Once they did that, the problem occurred for them! Whomever they call for support suggested the wiper stalk, which they replaced. Still have the problem...
Then after pulling apart more of the dash - they suggest the vehicle has been in an accident and has deeper issues. I don't believe that it has, but.... this vehicle was an Acura buy back because of dash noise - Acura certified it to be fixed so I guess it's their problem to fix. I do still notice creaking off and on on the driver's side. Seems like the 2008's have had some frame, weld issues based on posts here.
Now I have a loaner... I guess we'll find out more on Monday.
